UNIPORT PROTESTS AGAIN!!!

For more than two hours, Students of SSLT(School of Science Laboratory Technology), Uniport barricaded the popular East-West Road,PHC protesting an increase of their school fees from about N56,000 to N86,000 by their Faculty Dean,Prof.A.E Ataga ,with an order that anyone who fails to pay should forget about his/her 1st semester examinations. The students had placards with different inscriptions like "PROF. ATAGA MUST GO", "ATAGA GO HOME TO BENIN AND REST", "ATAGA SLAPT A MARRIED PREGNANT STUDENT", "WHERE IS EFCC?, COME PROBE ATAGA" "ENOUGH OF THE ATAGARIZATION OF SSLT".This protest left travellers stranded coupled with the on going re-construction of the East-West road.On the course of the protest,an army officer released about two bullets to scare students away but this left two students with minor injuries as others now go mad on seeing what happened,later-on a message came in that the VC,Prof. Joseph Ajienka has pleaded with the students to stop the protest and come to Ebitimi Bamago Auditorium by 4:00pm for a meeting to resolved the problem. This incidence kept me wondering why such an outrageous increase in school fees in a school owned by the FG.. If Gov. Okorocha of Imo state can reduce the school fees of students in Imo State owned tertiary institutions to less than N18,000 then why CAN'T the FG of Nigeria,the country with the highest paid legislators in the world..............the world is watching.
