Gov Adams Oshiomhole is the latest latest victim on board,as his plane was grounded yesterday in Benin City. Few minutes Oshiomhole and his entourage left Benin to Anambra for the burial of Mrs Collete Obi, wife of Senator Ben Obi, Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency called back the pilot for non-payment of landing and aerodrome fees but the pilot engage them in an argument of paying back on their return but Oshiomhole ordered the pilot back to finish whatever that was left undone,this prompted the pilot to return to the airport. But after about one and half hour of the payment,they were still not allowed to go. Visibly angry, Gov Oshiomhole who has been waiting in plane has to enter his convoy and zoom off.
When newsmen met with captain James Manahash,he expressed shock and said "I have been a pilot for 35 years and out of which 7 years is here in Nigeria. So I was surprised when I was recalled back to the airport after we took off. The governor prevailed on me to come back and answer them. When we get back, I was told to pay landing and aerodrome fee which ordinarily we could pay later. "Even after completion of the process of payments, we were still delayed for one hour, fifteen minutes with the governor still seated in the aircraft. Ordinarily payment of such fees does not take more than ten minutes. This is not the first time I have been flying the governor and we have never witnessed such a disappointment. It is really shocking."
