Dangote Disburses N10 Billion To Women And Youths In 774 LGA's.

In his desire to alleviate the sufferings of youths and women in Nigeria and appropriately empowering both women and youths against the attack of poverty accross the 774 Local Governments Areas in Nigeria. Aliko Dangote,(Africa's richest) has disbursed N10 billion through his Dangote Foundation to youths and women accross Nigeria.
The disbursement of the fund is to enable the beneficiaries meet up with their immediate family and livelihood needs by providing a one-time grant to start up businesses that will boost their financial status and help them become self-dependent.
Speaking during the continuation of the disbursement in Lokoja,Kogi State. President of Dangote Foundation, Alhaji Aliko Dangote said the foundation in response to the widespread poverty in Nigeria,in 2011 instituted a cash transfer intervention - the Dangote micro-grants programme- to provide cash transfers to selected poor and vulnerable Nigerians. The disbursement is expected to be completed in 24 months. He explained that the cash transfer intervention focused on women who bear the greatest burnt of poverty. Dangote said," Our programme provides a one-off grants that enables recipients to grow or start an enterprise, invest in products assets,improve the wealth of their families and/or take on new activities that reduce their vulnerability and enhance their economic standing. It has successfully assisted women and their families in Kano and Jigawa States". According to Dangote,the cash transfer intervention programme is national in scope and will systematically cover all the 774 LG of Nigeria. ****** I simply doff my cap for Aliko Dangote,for being sensitive to the sufferings of fellow Nigerians in a time like this when food is a big problem for many Nigerian families,the type we have not seen in the history of this country.
